On 6 May, Bihar School of Yoga is celebrating Munger Agaman. It is the day when in 1957, Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati entered the town of Munger which would become an epicentre of the global yoga renaissance and would later be known as the ‘City of Yoga’. As a wandering sadhu, a parivrajaka, he had spent some time in Bihar in various locations, yet on this day, destiny guided his steps to Munger, a small town on the banks of the river Ganga. The young sadhu, alone, not knowing anyone in the town, was immediately attracted to the special vibration of the place surrounded by the northbound Ganga. This ‘Day of Arrival’ marks the beginning of yoga propagation from shore to shore and door to door.
